Get Hands-On with Advanced Silicone Materials

advanced silicone materials

How many advanced silicone materials have you seen? With SSP’s new touch brochure, you can see and hold samples of 22 different elastomers at the same time. Whether you need EMI shielding silicones, military and aerospace silicones, or silicone elastomers that meet USP Class IV specifications, this is your chance to see and feel what’s not on a spec sheet.

Keep reading to learn more but remember that quantities are limited. If you’re a qualified buyer, find out which samples are included and request a touch brochure today.

EMI Shielding Silicones

SSP’s MIL-DTL-83528 shielding silicones include Type B and Type D materials that are part of the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA) Qualified Product List (QPL).

  • SSP2368-65 is a 65-durometer silver-aluminum silicone that’s certified to MIL-DTL-83528 Type B and provides an alternative to Parker Chomerics CHO-SEAL 1285.
  • SSP2486-70 is a 70-durometer silver-aluminum fluorosilicone that’s certified to MIL-DTL-83528 Type D and is an offset to both CHO-SEAL 1287 and CHO-SEAL 1298.

SSP’s touch brochure includes samples of both elastomers along with samples of these materials.

  • SSP502-30 is a 30-durometer nickel-graphite silicone that supports thinner, smaller, and lighter-weight designs. Use it instead of Chomerics S6305, 6330, 6370, 6371, 6372, or 6308.
  • SSP550-45 is a 45-durometer silver-aluminum fluorosilicone that combines EMI shielding with fuel resistance. It’s been independently tested to ASTM E595 for low outgassing.
  • SSP502-40V0 is a 40-durometer nickel-graphite silicone with ASTM E595 low outgassing and a UL 94V-0 flame rating. Use it instead of W.L. Gore GS2100.
  • SSP502-60V0 is a 60-durometer nickel-graphite silicone with ASTM E595 low outgassing and a UL 94V-0 flame rating. Use it instead of W.L. Gore GS5200.
  • SSP502-LT is a 55-durometer nickel-graphite silicone with ASTM E595 low outgassing and TR-10 low temperature performance. Use it with satellites and space vehicles.

The touch brochure also includes samples of EMI shielding silicones that are corrosion resistant or that contain reinforced conductive fabric.

  • SSP2529 is a 68-durometer nickel-aluminum shielding silicone that resists galvanic corrosion, has low outgassing, and has been independently tested to MIL-DTL-83528.
  • SSP2551 is a 72-durometer nickel-aluminum fluorosilicone that resists fuels and galvanic corrosion, has low outgassing, and has been independently tested to MIL-DTL-83528.
  • SSP502-40 Comp is a 45-durometer nickel-graphite silicone with an inner layer of conductive fabric. Use it when brittleness or tearing are potential problems during fabrication or use.
  • SSP502-65 Comp is a 65-durometer nickel-graphite silicone with an inner layer of conductive fabric. It has excellent tear strength.

Military and Aerospace Silicones

SSP’s military and aerospace silicones include elastomers that meet A-A-59588, MIL-DTL-25988, and AMS specifications. The touch brochure features samples of these materials:

  • SSP278 is a 40-durometer silicone that meets the requirements of A-A-59588, Class 1A and Class 1B, Grade 40. This elastomer also meets AMS 3301 requirements.
  • SSP390V is a 25-durometer silicone that meets A-A-59588, Class 2A, Grade 25 requirements. It provides high-temperature resistance and has low compression set.
  • SSP200T is a 50-durometer silicone that meets A-A-59588, Class 3B, Grade 50 requirements. It passes the DeMattia Flex Resistance Test for flex-fatigue resistance.
  • SSP267 is a 40-durometer fluorosilicone that meets MIL-DTL-25988, Type 2, Class 1, Grade 40 requirements. It’s fuel- and oil-resistant.
  • SSP083 is a 60-durometer fluorosilicone that meets MIL-DTL-25988, Type 2, Class 1, Grade 60 requirements. This fluorosilcione also meets AMS 3325 and AMS 3326 requirements.
  • SSP1331T is a 40-durometer silicone that meets AMS 3301 requirements. It resists weathering and petroleum-based lube oils.

USP Class VI Silicones

Finally, the touch brochure includes these durometer-based samples of SSP’s USP Class VI silicones, elastomers that also meet FDA, REACH, and RoHS requirements.

  • SSP2390-10 is a 10-durometer silicone with a Certificate of Compliance (COC) from NAMSA, an independent testing organization.
  • SSP2390-30 is a 30-durometer silicone with a tensile strength of 950 psi and an elongation of 890%.
  • SSP2390-50 is a 50-durometer silicone with a COC from NAMSA.
  • SSP2390-70 is a 70-durometer silicone with a tensile strength of 1390 psi and an elongation of 720%.

With SSP’s new touch brochure, you can see and hold samples of all these advanced silicones at the same time. If you’re a qualified buyer, request a touch brochure today.
