SSP502-40-V0
SSP502-40-V0 is a 40-durometer, nickel-graphite-filled EMI silicone with UL 94 V0 flame resistance. Use instead of GORE GS2100 EMI gaskets.
SSP makes flame-retardant EMI gasket materials that are GORE gasket alternatives. Our materials meet UL 94V0 for flammability.
Choose sheets, rolls, moldable compounds, extrusions, EMI O-rings, and EMI gaskets.
SSP’s flame retardant EMI shielding silicones are filled with nickel-graphite particles. They have UL 94 V0 flame ratings and have been independently tested for ASTM E595 low outgassing. There are two products. The first is a 40-durometer EMI silicone that’s an offset to GORE GS2100. The second is a 60-durometer EMI silicone that’s an offset to GORE GS5200. Both GORE materials are discontinued.
SSP502-40-V0 is a 40-durometer, nickel-graphite-filled EMI silicone with UL 94 V0 flame resistance. Use instead of GORE GS2100 EMI gaskets.
SSP502-60-V0 is a 60-durometer, very conductive, nickel-graphite flame-retardant EMI silicone that conforms to UL-94 V0. Use instead of GORE GS5200.
As Rubber and Plastics News reported in May 2020, W.L. Gore & Associates discontinued production of GS2100, GS5200, and GS8000, three well-known materials for EMI shielding, gasketing, and grounding.
SSP’s ability to produce thin, low-outgassing, flame-resistant shielding elastomers is now meeting demand for these discontinued GORE EMI replacement materials. SSP can make offsets that are 0.010 or 0012 inches thick, meet ASTM 95 outgassing and UL 94 flame resistance requirements, and come with a conductive PSA adhesive.
SSP’s EMI/RFI shielding silicones include a 40-durometer shielding silicone that is filled with nickel-coated graphite particles and provides UL-94 V0 flame resistance. SSP502-40-V01 is recommended as a replacement material for GORE® GS2100, a carbon-filled cellular PTFE with 45-durometer hardness that meets UL-94-V0 requirements.
Another SSP material, SSP502-60-V0, is a nickel-graphite shielding silicone with a 60-durometer hardness. This EMI gasketing material is recommended as a replacement for GORE GS5200, a nickel-filled cellular PTFE with a 60-durometer hardness. Like GORE GS2200, SSP-502-60-V0 meets UL 94 V0 requirements for flame resistance.
For former buyers of GORE EMI gasket materials, it’s important to understand that SSP-50240-V0 and SSP502-60-V0 are not new formulations. These proven SSP materials have been used for years in critical applications such as defense, aerospace, and telecommunications. The addition of UL 94 V0 flammability testing underscores our confidence in a product that we can develop quickly while leveraging over a decade’s worth of formulation data.
SSP502-40-V0 and SSP502-60-V0 also meet the requirements of ASTM E595, a standard that defines testing procedures for evaluating changes in material mass caused by outgassing. SSP also offers elastomers that meet the ASTM E595 standard for total mass loss (TML).
During independent testing, samples of SSP502-40-V0 and SSP502-60-V0 were tested both with and without a conductive pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) that SSP can apply to one side of the gasket materials for ease-of-installation. These reports and other technical documentation are available on the product pages for SSP50240-V0 and SSP502-60-V0.
SSP also offers these other types of EMII/RFI shielding materials. We also fabricate EMI gaskets and EMI O-rings from the elastomers we make.
