EMI/RFI Shielding Silicones and Fabricated Products
SSP makes EMI/RFI shielding silicones and supplies these ready-to-fabricate materials as sheets, rolls, extrusions, and moldable compounds. Many of our electrically conductive elastomers are part of the M83528 Qualified Product List (QPL) from the Defense Logistics Agency, which is part of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). SSP also fabricates M83528 part numbers.
Compare SSP’s materials to Parker Chomerics CHO-SEAL, Nolato Jabar, and W.L. Gore EMI/RFI shielding. We offer low minimum order quantities (MOQs), quick lead times, and ISO 9001:2015 quality. SSP cuts and molds EMI gaskets and EMI O-rings in-house, and our fabricated products arrive ready-to-install and are available with an optional pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing.
Low Outgassing Space Grade Silicones
SSP’s space grade silicones meet the requirements of ASTM E595, a standard test method that forms the basis for NASA’s low outgassing requirements. In the near-perfect vacuum of space, silicone outgassing can cloud optics or degrade the performance of sensitive electronics. Applications for low outgassing silicones include satellites, a fast-growing market.
Low outgassing silicones are available in electrically conductive and non-conductive formulations. Conductive materials include flame retardant offsets to GORE GS2100 and GORE GS5200; a QPL certified MIL-DTL-83528, Type B offset to CHO-SEAL 1285; and a nickel-graphite silicone for extreme low temperatures. SSP also makes a low outgassing silicone with TR-10 low-temperature capability.
Aerospace Grade Materials
Aerospace grade materials from SSP include silicones and fluorosilicones that meet tough specs and are available with a full Certificate of Analysis (COA) for traceability. These elastomers include fluorosilicones that meet AMS-25988, an SAE International standard that has superseded MIL-DTL-25988. SSP also makes silicones that meet A-A-59588, a GSA spec that superseded ZZ-R-765.
SSP also makes aerospace grade materials that meet Aerospace Material Specifications (AMS) from SAE International. Choose materials that meet AMS 3301, AMS 3302, AMS 3303, AMS 3304, AMS 3305J, AMS 3325, AMS 3332, or AMS 3345. AMS silicones are used in aircraft and spacecraft to meet stringent requirements for quality, safety, and performance.
Medical Silicones
SSP’s medical silicones meet USP Class VI, FDA CFR 177.2600, and RoHS requirements. Because they are platinum-cured, these elastomers have stronger physical properties and lower shrinkage values than peroxide cured compounds. Plus, SSP’s medical grade silicones are available in a range of durometer-based grades (10 to 80 Shore A).
Applications for medical grade silicones include medical tubing, pharmaceutical seals and gaskets, short-term implants (less than 29 days), and seals and gaskets used with food processing equipment. SSP’s 10-durometer and 50-durometer products have been certified by the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP), which defines USP Class VI requirements and informs FDA standards.
