Faces of SSP: Meet SSP’s Bonding Team

Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) manufactures standard and custom septa at its Ballston Spa, New York facility. SSP’s Bonding Team joins septa to caps across two shifts and includes a group of machine operators and silicone specialists we’d like you to meet.

Kevin Meadows leads the team and is SSP’s Lab Products Production Manager. Since joining the company seven years ago, Kevin has worked on the bonding and friction teams, learned to run the mills, and served as a second shift supervisor. “They care about people here,” Kevin says of SSP. “It’s the best atmosphere I’ve ever worked in.”

Luis Vazquez is a first-shift machine operator who’s worked at SSP for over four years. A New York Yankees fan, he likes baseball and visits the local batting cages to improve his swing. Luis also enjoys spending time with his family and appreciates what he calls “a great environment” at SSP. “They treat us well,” he says, adding that “you don’t find that everywhere.”

Chris Fludd is a first-shift machine operator who is originally from New York City and enjoys spending time with his eight grandchildren. Before joining SSP four years ago, Chris worked in material handling for a publishing company. As a member of the Bonding Team, he enjoys the flexible start times and friendly, respectful atmosphere. “Everybody gets along,” Chris says. “They want you to be successful.”

Amanda Guarneri works second shift and is the Bonding Team’s most recent hire. Before joining SSP, the former warehouse workers picked and packed medical products. A native of Ballston Spa, Amanda enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She appreciates “the things that SSP does for employees,” such as an annual summer picnic and company-provided lunches.

Steve Vinciguerra used to make crepes but now bonds septa to caps. The former cook has worked at SSP for over two years and occasionally helps Kevin Meadows train new employees. Steve has also cross-trained in well-pad slitting, packaging, and fulfilment. An avid hiker and a drummer in a rock-and-roll band, Steve describes SSP as “one big family” where you have a conversation with the company president.

Bounnack Sayarath is a second-shift machine operator who used to do third-party assessments for the power industry. He joined the Bonding Team two years ago after learning about a job opportunity from his sister, who also works at SSP. “This is a really family-oriented company”, Bounnack says of SSP. “You really can’t find anything like this anymore.”
