Specialty Silicone Products is continuing its rapid growth as global silicone supplier. Recently, our Ballston Spa, New York (USA) company signed an exclusive sales agreement with Queensland Gaskets that covers Australia and New Zealand. SSP also maintains important relationships with partners in Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Singapore. Today, SSP’s innovative products and materials are used in applications in over 20 countries around the world.
In recent years, SSP has experienced tremendous growth in sales of its EMI/RFI shielding elastomers, military-grade silicones, and other specialized silicone materials. Many of the conductive silicones that SSP has developed meet the MIL-DTL-83528 specification for military applications. Highlights include two materials that meet Qualified Products List (QPL) requirements from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Logistics agency (DLA). SSP also supplies many commercial-grade shielding silicones.
Because the United States is the world leader in defense technology, companies in allied countries often look for American partners with proven materials that meet U.S. military specifications. Queensland Gaskets, a leading manufacturer of gaskets in a wide range of materials, shapes and sizes, supplies EMI and RFI shielding to the fast-growing Australian defense market. Family-owned and operated since 1953, the Brisbane-based company is well-known in the Pacific and beyond.
The agreement between SSP and Queensland Gaskets comes at a time when Australia is making the biggest single commitment to upgrading its defense capabilities since World War II. Last August, the Australian government announced that defense spending will reach 2% of gross domestic product (GDP) by the fiscal year (FY) ending June 2021. According to Jane’s 360, Australia’s defense spending for FY 2019-2020 will rise by $2.3 billion AUD ($1.6 billion USD).
SSP’s Business Development Manager, Dominic Testo, recently flew to Australia to sign the exclusive agreement with Queensland Gaskets. “SSP could not be more excited,” he explained, “and 40 hours of flying in 5 days is well worth it. I have all the confidence in the world that the QG team will have great success with SSP’s EMI/RFI shielding elastomers, military-grade silicones, and many other specialized silicone materials.”
