Faces of SSP: Meet Anoulack Roback and Ree Beers

Ree and Anoulack

Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) salutes Anoulack Roback (Right) and Ree Beers (Left) for their hard work and many contributions to our fast-growing company. Anoulack’s job title is Senior Accountant, but that’s just one of several hats she’s wearing during her twentieth year with SSP. Ree’s job title is Accounting Clerk, but she’s also taken on a range of responsibilities during her eighteen months with us.

Accounting and Inventory

Together, Anoulack and Ree are part of a three-person department led by Sue Premo, Vice President of Finance, Human Resources (HR), and Information Technology (IT). When Anoulack joined SSP as her second job out of college, the business was privately held and still in its teens. Today, SSP is part of HEICO, a Fortune 500 company, and looking ahead to its 35th anniversary next year.

As members of a small but busy team, Anoulack and Ree work closely together. They also depend on each other’s contributions because accounting best practices require a separation of duties. As part of her responsibilities, Ree handles the day-to-day functions of Accounts Receivables, including weekly collections, invoicing customers, and recording cash deposits into our bank account and ERP Accounting System. Then on the Accounts Payables side, she enters bills in our ERP Accounting System, ensuring that Vendors/Suppliers are paid in a timely manner.

Together, Ree and Anoulack also play a pivotal role in supporting SSP’s Annual Physical Count process.    Anoulack is responsible for reviewing the general ledger and preparing for month-end close, including fixed assets and depreciation, monthly bank reconciliation, and any reports for month-end needs. She also takes part in the Monthly Cycle Count that is required by HEICO.

During month-end close-out, Ree ensures that everything has been entered by the end of the third day in a four-day period. This gives Anoulack the information that she needs – and enough time to check the books prior to Sue’s review and approval. Sue then prepares the financial statements and uploads them at the corporate level.

Payroll, HR, IT, and More

In addition to her Accounting and Payroll responsibilities, Anoulack helps SSP find and attract workforce talent. In her Human Resources role, she works with a placement agency and posts job openings online. Anoulack also screens candidates and prepares them for interviews with managers. When new employees are hired, she’s responsible for onboarding them. She also provides HR support to Team Members who have questions or concerns related to payroll and/or health benefits. In addition, as the Event Coordinator Lead at SSP, Anoulack has a team that helps her with onsite or offsite company events for all SSP Team Members.

Ree assists with Human Resources as well. She is part of the Events Coordinator Team that helps plan and put on company events.  Also, any Team Members who need safety shoes ask her for a voucher, and sometimes she helps them order what they need online. That’s consistent with some of her other responsibilities, which include ordering and taking inventory of safety, cleaning supplies, office supplies, and supplies for the break room. Ree also provides support as SSP’s receptionist and is the first person people talk to when they call.

When guests visit our Ballston Spa, New York facility, Ree greets them in the lobby and ensures that they sign the visitor’s log and are authorized to enter. Anoulack also has an important additional role since she’s one of the points of contact for any phone system issues/or support for IT when Sue is out of the building. When HEICO requests an audit, Anoulack and Ree have responsibilities as well.

Work-Life Balance

Although their workdays are busy, Anoulack and Ree both enjoy what they do and the flexibility that their jobs afford. “SSP is a great place to work,” Anoulack says. “It’s also a family-oriented place, which allowed me to continue my career path and be supportive of my family’s needs.” Ree also likes how “you can be a mother and have a career” at SSP. “It’s encouraging,” she says, “The room for growth is there”.
