Faces of SSP: Amelia Berry

Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) continues to grow as we meet global demand for innovative elastomers. Recently, our Ballston Spa, New York company added a new product development chemist to the team. Amelia Berry is supporting research and development (R&D) efforts that will help lead to new products. Through hands-on testing, she’s also supporting important quality assurance (QA) activities.

Top-Notch Education, Laboratory Experience

Amelia Berry is a recent graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry. Wheaton, which is consistently ranked among the nation’s top 50 liberal arts colleges, is also well-known for research collaborations with faculty members. The college’s Chemistry major is accredited by the prestigious American Chemical Society (ACS).

As SSP, Amelia is applying her education and experience in a variety of ways. Her R&D efforts span a portfolio of products that include SpecShield™ EMI RFI conductive silicones, silicone lubricants, military and aerospace silicones, FDA and USP VI silicones, silicone membranes, and laboratory products. Amelia will also help SSP to meet demanding requirements for quality and purity.

Team Chemistry

Amelia enjoys working with the many different materials that SSP offers, and is part of a hard-working group that continues to challenge and motivate her. As one of the newest members of an SSP team that now numbers 70+ employees, she joins new faces Jillian Massetti, Customer Account Coordinator; Karen Heidenstrom, Account Manager; and Mike Nicastro, Business Development Representative.

In supporting SSP’s R&D and QA efforts, Amelia works closely with Brian Bayly, Director of Technology and Quality. At successful companies, “team chemistry” is a key ingredient to organizational success. Effective teams aren’t just a collection of talented individuals, however. Rather, they combine the abilities and efforts of each member in the right way. SSP embodies this approach and welcomes Amelia to our team.

Innovative Elastomers

Amelia Berry’s contributions will help SSP offer even more innovative elastomers for applications such as automotive, aerospace, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices and equipment, unmanned systems, defense and homeland security, and satellite communications. For SSP’s customers, new products can offer exciting prospects. To learn more about Specialty Silicone Products, contact us on-line
