Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) makes extruded rubber profiles for bonded EMI O-rings, D-rings, and frame gaskets. The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), part of the U.S. Department of Defense, has approved our Made in USA manufacturing facility for producing all M83528 extrusions. If you need ready-to-install EMI shielding, ask SSP for fabricated parts in M83528 slash sizes or for custom parts like bonded EMI frame gaskets made from solid D, hollow D, mushroom profiles, or custom shapes.
To bond cut lengths of the EMI extrusions we produce, SSP uses an electrically conductive adhesive that’s made of the same material as the EMI gasket or EMI O-ring. In other words, this adhesive is made of the same elastomer and contains the same filler as the gasket or O-ring material itself. This ensures that the adhesive can withstand the same temperatures. It also supports reliable electrical conductivity and EMI shielding, and without EMI leakage that can allow signals to penetrate the joint.
Extruded Rubber Profiles: Silicones and Fluorosilicones
SSP makes EMI extrusions from silicones and fluorosilicones that are filled with electrically conductive particles. We also have an in-house toolroom where we fabricate extrusion dies. The table below describes our standard extruded rubber profiles, many of which are MIL-DTL-83528 certified and part of the DLA’s M83528 Qualified Products List (QPL). SSP also makes EMI extrusions with non-silver-coated fills for applications that don’t require MIL-DTL-83528 materials.

SSP is more than a manufacturer of EMI shielding silicones for extruded rubber profiles. We’re also a fabricator of standard and custom products like EMI gaskets and EMI O-rings. At our Ballston Spa, New York (USA) manufacturing facility, we cut and bond lengths of the EMI extrusions that we make into solid O-rings, hollow O-rings, and D-rings. We also fabricate custom frame gaskets from solid D, hollow D, mushroom-shaped, or custom profiles.

If you need custom frame gaskets for EMI shielding, SSP can also fabricate them for you. Depending on your application’s requirements, we can use M83528 QPL certified materials or recommend an EMI elastomer with non-silver filled material. For example, a large electronic enclosure for non-military use may be able to use a nickel-graphite filled silicone or fluorosilicone for a significant cost savings.
