Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) has a reputation for developing “silicones that work”. That’s not all we’re known for, however. 1. Company History
SSP was founded in 1989 by four employees of GE Silicones, an industry leader that’s now known as Momentive Performance Materials. Today, SSP is over 25 years old and known internationally for innovative elastomers such as our SpecShield™ family of products.
2. MIL-DTL-83528 Compliance
SSP supplies EMI RFI silicones that meet the MIL-DTL-83528 standard. This U.S. military specification establishes the general requirements for electrically-conductive elastomeric shielding gaskets that resist electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI).
3. Continuous Rolls
SSP is the only company in the world that supplies continuous rolls of silver-aluminum and nickel-graphite silicones. Compression-molded sheets and ready-to-mold compounds have their advantages, of course, but continuous rolls let gasket fabricators cut the lengths they need for cost-effective manufacturing.
4. Military and Aerospace Standards
SSP supplies military and aerospace materials that meet the requirements of SAE AMS 3326, MIL-R-25988, and AA-59588. These silicone and fluorosilicone componds are fully-tested to these standards, including the DeMattia Flex Resistance Test for AA-59588 Class 3A and 3B silicones.
5. No Extra Charges
SSP doesn’t charge extra for test certifications and results. On our website, you’ll find data sheets, SDS information, shielding reports, qualified product listing (QPL) certifications, and salt spray reports. If third-party test data is available for a product, just ask us to share it with you.
6. Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs)
SSP doesn’t have a minimum order quantity (MOQ) on about 90% of our products. Instead of buying more material than you need and tying up capital, you can get just the amount of product that’s required for your project.
7. FDA/USP Class VI Compliance
SSP makes platinum-cured silicones that are FDA CFR 177.2600, USP Class VI, and RoHS compliant. These ultra-clean, ultra-pure silicones are normally translucent, but custom pigments can be added to match larger product designs. Products include continuous rolls that are .005 to .125 inches thick.
8. Conductive Elastomer Extrusions
SSP now has extrusion capabilities for our line of EMI elastomers. We can produce solid cords, hollow tubing, hollow D-shapes, and many other custom products. They’re perfect for bonded O-rings that require EMI shielding and environmental sealing.
9. EMI O-Rings
SSP supplies bonded and molded EMI O-rings that we fabricate in-house at our ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing facility.
10. Ultra-Thin Silicone Membranes
SSP supplies ultra-thin silicone membranes that are USP Class VI and FDA CFR 177.2600 compliant. These highly-permeable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membranes provide a barrier to liquids and a permeable path to gaseous elements and compounds. Products are as thin as .005”.
