SSP to Show Advanced Materials at Gasketing/Converting Expo 2024

G/C Expo 2024

Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) will showcase its proven portfolio of advanced materials at next week’s Gasketing/Converting Expo (G/C Expo 2024). SSP’s ready-to-fabricate products include specification-grade military and aerospace silicones, EMI/RFI elastomers for military and commercial applications, and materials for space use. SSP will also share information about the silicone supply chain and its custom formulation and testing capabilities.

SSP will be represented at the Gasketing/Converting Expo by Kevin Wickert, Sales and Marketing Manager, and Gary Falchi, Business Development Specialist. Gary is now SSP’s primary contact for the Gasket Fabricators Association (GFA), the event organizer. G/C Expo 2024 is scheduled for March 18 to 20, 2024 at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel in Orlando, Florida.

Specification-Grade Military and Aerospace Silicones

SSP’s advanced materials include AA 5988 silicones that meet Class 3A or Class 3B requirements, with no exceptions for flexural testing. Products include an AA 59588, Class 3B, Grade 60 elastomer that’s certified by an independent testing laboratory. SSP also supplies AA59588 silicones that meet the requirements of Class 1A and 1B, or Class 2A and 2B. Because SSP offers a certificate of analysis (COA) with each batch, fabricators and converters can buy AA 59588 silicones with confidence.

In addition, SSP manufactures and distributes MIL-DTL-25988 fluorosilicones for applications that require oil- and fuel-resistance. Two of these military-grade products also meet AMS specifications. SSP offers MIL-DTL-25988 fluorosilicones with low minimum order quantities (MOQs) and, with sheets and rolls, in thicknesses that range from 0.15” (minimum) to .125” (maximum). Molders can buy MIL-DTL-25988 fluorosilicone pre-forms in custom widths and thicknesses.

EMI/RFI Elastomers and Space-Grade Silicones

At GC/Expo 2024, SSP will also showcase its broad portfolio of EMI/RFI silicones. Some of these electrically-conductive materials are filled with silver-coated particles. They meet the MIL-DTL-83528 specification and include products on the MIL-DTL83528 Qualified Product List (QPL). For non-military applications, SSP offers EMI/RFI silicones that are filled with nickel-graphite particles. Examples include UL 94 V0-rated offsets for discontinued GORE EMI shielding

SSP has also developed elastomers for satellites, spacecraft, and ground-based infrastructure such as radar systems. These space-grade silicones include a new non-conductive material that passes ASTM E595 outgas testing and remains flexible at temperatures as low as -116°C (-177°F). SSP also offers a space-grade EMI silicone that withstands extreme cold, passes ASTM E595 outgas testing, and is filled with cost-effective nickel-graphite particles.

Sharing Insights and Capabilities

In the event hall and during GC/Expo’s many networking opportunities, SSP will also share insights about the silicone supply chain. Previous silicone shortages are behind us now, but fabricators and converters will find value in planning for future supply chain uncertainty. SSP’s ability to custom-formulate and test the advanced materials that we offer can also provide event participants with a competitive advantage in fast-growing industries.
