SSP2521T

70-Durometer High-Strength Silicone

SSP2521T is a 70-durometer (Shore A) silicone with high tear strength and high flexural strength. This heat-cured silicone compound is black in color and uses a DCLBP peroxide catalyst system.

A-A 59588, Class 3B, Grade 70

SSP2521T has been tested to the flex-fatigue requirements in the A-A-59588, Class 3B, Grade 70 specification. The A-A-59588 standard from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) contains six alphanumeric classes or sections, but only Classes 3A and 3B include requirements for flex-fatigue resistance.

DeMattia Flex Resistance Test

A-A-59588, Class 3B silicones with high flex-fatigue resistance must pass the DeMattia Flex Resistance Test, a dynamic fatigue test that measures crack growth in inches over thousands of flexural cycles. For certification purposes, SSP performs in-house testing at its Quality Assurance laboratory in Ballston Spa, New York (USA).

Peroxide-Cured and Post-Baked Silicones

SSP2521T silicones are peroxide-cured, a robust technique that’s also cost-effective. Because peroxide cure silicones aren’t inhibited by amines, tin compounds, latex, or urethanes, they’re a good choice for military and aerospace applications. To prevent bloom, SSP post-bakes all peroxide-cured silicones.

Ready-to-Mold Compounds, Sheet Stock, and Continuous Rolls

SSP2521T silicones are supplied as ready-to-use uncured compounds, compression-molded sheet stock, or continuous rolls. Raw materials are available catalyzed and ready for compression molding and HAV curing.
