Medical Silicones

High-purity, biocompatible silicone elastomers for medical, laboratory, and food-contact applications.

SSP2390 Series: Platinum-Cured Medical Grade Silicones

The SSP2390 Series is a family of platinum-cured medical silicones ranging from 10 to 80 durometer (Shore A). Engineered for extreme purity, these materials meet USP Class VI and FDA CFR 177.2600 requirements, offering a low-extractable alternative to traditional peroxide-cured silicones. They also meet REACH and RoHS requirements. Ideal for medical gaskets, pharmaceutical tubing, and high-purity seals.

Important: USP Class VI testing was performed with the base elastomer, which is normally translucent. SSP can supply these materials in red, black, gray, and white; however, it is the responsibility of the end user to determine material suitability and regulatory compliance.

Key Benefits and Technical Advantages

  • Platinum-Cured Purity: Unlike peroxide systems, the SSP2390 series does not produce “bloom” or organic acid byproducts, ensuring a cleaner final component.

  • Superior Biocompatibility: Fully tested to meet USP Class VI standards for medical safety. SSP’s 10 and 50 durometer medical silicones have been certified by NAMSA, a global authority in biological safety testing and regulatory compliance

  • Customizable Hardness: Available in a wide range of durometers to meet specific compression and flexibility needs.

  • Thermal Stability: Maintains physical properties in temperatures ranging from -60°C to 200°C.
