Uncured Materials for Compression Molders
Compression molders can choose uncured pigs rolls, uncured sheets, or uncured preforms.
Uncured Pig Rolls
SSP produces uncured pig rolls with a two-roll mill and supplies them in a cylindrical shape. The end of each silicone roll looks like a pig’s tail that’s coiled up. Typically, uncured pig rolls are used by customers who want to perform their own secondary steps prior to compression molding.
Uncured Sheets
Compression molding customers can also choose uncured sheets. SSP mills these ready-to-mold materials and supplies them as 12” x 12” squares in thicknesses ranging from .500” to 1”.
Uncured Preforms
The preforms that SSP supplies are also uncured; however, they’re made with a calendaring machine instead of a mill. Uncured preforms come in thicknesses from .020” to .500” and in widths from 4” to 15”. They’re used by customers who want to compression mold SSP’s materials directly, and without performing any secondary steps prior to processing.
Uncured Materials for Gasket Cutters
Gasket fabricators who cut our materials can choose cured sheets and cured rolls. SSP’s silicones support fabrication processes such as die cutting, flash cutting, and water jet cutting.
Cured Sheets
SSP supplies silicone sheets that we compression-mold and cure at our Ballston Spa, New York (USA) facility. Typically, we supply these cured sheets in 12” x 12” or 15” x 20” sizes. Thicknesses range from .010” to .250”.
Customers like how our cured sheets are available in low minimum order quantities (MOQs) and with quick turnaround times. That’s especially important for military and aerospace projects that need only small quantities of material and face tight deadlines.
Cured Rolls
Finally, SSP makes cured rolls in thicknesses from .005” to .125” and widths from 6” to 15”. Cured rolls are available in exacting tolerances, and some products have tolerances as tight as ± .003”. Because SSP offers 30’ minimum orders with roll stock, customers like how they can source these materials at low volumes for cost-effective ordering.
