Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) makes EMI connector gaskets that reduce or eliminate the transmission of electromagnetic interference (EMI) between connected devices, or through the connector itself. We mold and fabricate standard and custom products from the EMI elastomers that we make at our Ballston Spa, New York (USA) manufacturing facility.

Many of SSP’s EMI elastomers are on the Qualified Products List (QPL) from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), which is part of the U.S. Department of Defense. These Type A, B, C, D, and K materials can be used to produce EMI connector gaskets with M83528/004 part numbers. Keep reading to learn more and contact us for a quote.

What are EMI Connector Gaskets?

EMI connector gaskets provide environmental sealing and EMI shielding in electrical and electronic connectors. They are cut or molded from electrically-conductive elastomers and designed to fill small gaps between uneven connector surfaces. These connector gaskets are soft enough to support compression while resisting water, moisture, many chemicals, and a wide range of temperatures.

Which EMI Connector Gasket Materials are Available?

SSP offers a choice of EMI connector gasket materials, including these MIL-DTL-83528 silicones and fluorosilicones.

How is an EMI Connector Gasket Made?

For higher volumes, die-cutting is the most efficient way to convert molded sheets or continuous rolls into flat gaskets. For prototyping and lower volumes, flash cutting is a better choice because there’s no tooling to pay for or wait for. SSP provides die cutting and flash cutting services, but we can also compression mold standard or custom EMI gaskets.

What About M83528/004 Part Numbers?

SSP supplies EMI connector gaskets to defense contractors who require M83528/004 part numbers. The MIL-DTL-83528 specification establishes a segmented part-number structure. For example, M83528/004A001 means that product is a connector gasket (004) and the material is MIL-DTL-83528 Type A (A). Based on the last three digits (001), you can find gasket dimensions on this page.
