Fully-Compliant Materials

When you buy silicones and fluorosilicones from SSP, you know that what you’re getting meets all of the requirements for the standard you need to meet. For all of our military and aerospace materials, we offer certificates of analysis (COAs) that report batch-level test results. We also offer certificates of compliance (COCs) that attest to a batch’s compliance. With other suppliers, changes to ingredients mean that you could be assuming a level of compliance that doesn’t really exist.   

MIL-DTL-83528 EMI Silicones

MIL-DTL-83528 is a U.S. military detail specification (DTL) that covers the use of electrically-conductive gasketing materials that provide defined levels of shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI). The lettered sections of this military specification describe silicone and fluorosilicone elastomers that are filled with metal or metal-coated particles. 

SSP offers a broad portfolio of EMI shielding materials and is ready to take your order for Type A, B, D, or K MIL-DTL-83528 materials. Several of our materials belong to the MIL-DTL-83528 Qualified Products List (QPL) from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). There are also SSP shielding silicones that you can use instead of CHO-SEAL® products from Parker Chomerics.   

GORE® EMI Shielding Alternatives

SSP is also ready to send you offsets to GORE® EMI gasketing materials that have been discontinued. SSP’s products use silicone or fluorosilicone as the base material instead of PTFE or cellular PTFE. Our products are not exact offsets since the base materials are different, but SSP’s materials have been proven to work in hundreds of replacement situations over the last two years.

• The silicones have third-party data for EMI shielding, ASTM595 outgassing, and UL 94 V-0 flame resistance. 
• The fluorosilicone is not UL 94 V-0 compliant but has third-party data for shielding and outgassing.

MIL-DTL-25988 Fluorosilicones

MIL-DTL-25988 is a U.S. military detail specification (DTL) that covers the use of fluorosilicone rubber when resistance to jet fuel and lubricating oil is required. The current version of this standard, Revision D, was issued on January 21, 2021, and contains numbered Types, Classes, and Grades. SSP makes fluorosilicones that meet Rev. D and is ready to send them to you in cost-effective quantities.
