50-Durometer Peroxide Cure Silicone

SSP227 is a 50-durometer (Shore A) heat-cured silicone elastomer that uses a Varox-peroxide and dicumyl-peroxide catalyst system. This silicone compound meets the requirements of the A-A-59588, Class IA and Class 1B, Grade 50 specification. Because A-A-59588 compounds require significant testing, there is a $500 minimum order amount. Small-quantity orders may be subject to certification charges.

A-A-59588, Class IA and Class 1B, Grade 50 Silicones

SSP227 elastomers have been tested to meet the physical and mechanical properties for A-A-59588, Class 1A and 1B, Grade 50 silicones. The A-A-59588 standard supersedes the ZZ-R-765 specification, and meets the SAE-AMS-3301 standard for general-purpose, 50-durometer silicone rubber. As A-A-59588 Class 1A and 1B silicones, SSP227 elastomers provide low temperature resistance and low compression set at high temperatures.

Peroxide Cured Silicone Elastomers

SSP227 silicone elastomers are peroxide-cured, a robust technique that is also cost-effective. Because peroxide cure silicones aren’t inhibited by amines, tin compounds, latex, or urethanes, these compounds are often used in industrial applications such as aerospace and automotive. To prevent bloom and promote compatibility with food and healthcare requirements, SSP post-bakes all peroxide-cured silicones.

Form Factors and Colors for Silicone Compounds

SSP227 silicone elastomers are supplied as ready-to-mold compounds or compression-molded sheet stock. These silicone compounds can be pigmented to meet your application requirements, but the most popular colors produced are red, black, and gray.
