SSP-2484-M wire-oriented fluorosilicones provide electrical conductivity, EMI shielding, and environmental sealing. They are filled with thin strands of Monel wire, and provide resistance to fuels, oils, and solvents. SSP-2484-M fluorosilicones can also withstand extreme temperatures and harsh weather conditions.
SSP-2484-M uses fluorosilicone as the binder material and is recommended for applications that require resistance to fuels, oils, and solvents along with resistance to a wide range of service temperatures.
For EMI applications that require temperature resistance but not fuel, oil, or solvent resistance, SSP offers a wire-oriented silicone (SSP-2482-M).
Thin Monel Wires
SSP-2484-M fluorosilicones contain strands of Monel wire that are positioned perpendicularly to the flange surface and crimped to enhance electrical contact. These thin metal wires have a diameter of 0.0045” (0.1144 mm), and are processed with and bound to the elastomer for a uniform surface.
The Monel wires in SSP-2484-M provide multiple contact points, and help to produce a spring-like effect in the gasket material. Monel, a nickel-copper alloy, is compatible with a broad range of mating surfaces and used in electrical and electronic components.
Shielding effectiveness is a function of wire type (Monel) and binder material (fluorosilicone). SSP-2484-M wire-oriented fluorosilicones can resist electronic interference up to 100 dB in the E-Field and up to 50 dB in the H-field.
Form Factors and Gasket Fabrication
SSP-2484-M wire-oriented fluorosilicones are supplied in sheets and strips, and are specified by thickness and width (height). Pressure-sensitive adhesive can be applied to sheets and strips, and fabrication techniques such as die cutting can support customer requirements.
