SSP-2482-M

SSP-2482-M wire-oriented silicones are solid, Monel-filled elastomers that provide electrical conductivity, EMI shielding, and environmental sealing

DETAILS

SSP-2482-M wire-oriented silicones provide electrical conductivity, EMI shielding, and environmental sealing. These solid silicone elastomers are filled with thin Monel wire and resist low-to-moderate closure force.  They also withstand extreme temperatures and harsh weather conditions.

Solid Silicone

SSP-2482-M uses solid silicone as the binder material and is recommended for applications that have severely uneven joints, require low closure force, or have a maximum operating pressure of 5 psi.

For EMI applications that also require resistance to fuel, oils, and solvents, SSP offers a wire-oriented fluorosilcione with Monel wire (SSP-2484-M).

Thin Monel Wires

SSP-2482-M shielding silicones contain strands of Monel wire that are positioned perpendicularly to the flange surface and crimped to enhance electrical contact. These thin metal wires have a diameter of 0.0045” (0.1144 mm), and are processed with and bound to the elastomer for a uniform surface.

Electrical Conductivity

The Monel wires in SSP-2482-M provide multiple contact points, and help to produce a spring-like effect in the gasket material. Monel, a nickel-copper alloy, is compatible with a broad range of mating surfaces and is used in electrical and electronic components.

EMI Shielding

Shielding effectivenes is a function of wire type (Monel) and binder material (solid silicone). SSP-2482-M wire-oriented silicones can resist electronic interference up to 100 dB in the E-Field and up to 50 dB in the H-field.

Form Factors and Gasket Fabrication

SSP-2482-M wire-oriented silicones are supplied in sheets and strips, and are specified by thickness and width (height). Pressure-sensitive adhesive can be applied to sheets and strips, and fabrication techniques such as die cutting can support customer requirements.
